Trailanga Swami and Ramakrishna

Trailanga Swami: 'What dharma is' cannot be understood without adopting one particular route. Dharma does not develop with the use of a copper vessel or by ringing a bell, nor does it happen by deceiving people by holding one's nose and mouth (during pranayam) hiding behind the garb of programme. Dharma also does not happen by stamping Harinaam all over the body or wandering about on the roads carrying a bag of Harinaam. There is no room for malice, envy or discrimination in dharma. In practice one cannot be called dharmik unless one develops love for all beings. Siddhi remains out of reach unless one is impartial. As sin is generated in the world from quarrel and malice, then dispute and difference of opinion among various communities over dharma is no doubt a deplorable matter.

God is the same for all. There is no special place with him for caste or community in the name of dharma. He does not discriminate among the Brahmin, Shudra, educated, illiterate, rich, poor and all. He belongs to the one who calls Him with single-minded devotion. What can be more painful than discarding the broad outlook that God belongs to all, and fighting over dharma?

He is one and is for all. That is why the entire world is one and all men are one. All dharmas are one. The path of dharma is very broad. People can achieve dharma according to their own views and faith. The religious faith of anyone should not be broken in any manner."
